Although the cottage appeared clean, once cupboards were opened, these were grubby, and contained a jumble of unclean pots pans and rubbish. 6. Down lights hanging out of the sockets in both bathrooms and several not containing lights. These looked to be a fire hazard as we could see insulation packed around the light fitting in the ones falling out of the ceiling. 7.No iron provided although there was an ironing board. Searched high and low for this and it could not be located. 8. No cold water to the basin tap in bathroom 2. It would only turn a little. 9. A TV was provided which we could not initially operate , and no instructions . However, there was a Sky box which we learned at a later date the owner had cancelled the subscription, but in our phone conversations with him, this was not mentioned , adding to our frustration as we tried to work out the TV function. 10. Bulbs missing to lamps throughout the cottage as well as overhead lights. 11. Outside bins were full making it difficult to dispose of the weeks rubbish as requested by Sykes 12. The owner called his cousin to help with the TV and he was as helpful as he could be under the circumstances.

This cottage had so much potential that was not realised due to the following. 1. Very vague directions to initially locate the cottage Every other guest has found it . We provide an Eirecode F35 NH33 and a description Kilmore Village L1916 drive 1.2 km off the N17 . Driveway is up and over a hill on your left 2. Little or no and sometimes misleading information about the cottage in a scrappy book There is lots of information in the house book, the key thing is my telephone number if things need to be sorted. You found this quickly as you rang me on your first evening . 3. Wifi that would not connect This is rural Ireland and sometimes there is a poor signal . 3. Luke warm water in first bathroom so no hot showers for the week There is an electric shower in one bathroom and a shower powered by the oil boiler in the other. 5. Although the cottage appeared clean, once cupboards were opened, these were grubby, and contained a jumble of unclean pots pans and rubbish. We have an excellent cleaner , and no other guest has complained . 6. Down lights hanging out of the sockets in both bathrooms and several not containing lights. These looked to be a fire hazard as we could see insulation packed around the light fitting in the ones falling out of the ceiling. The house is checked over every year by a qualified electrician and he issues a safety certificate. 7.No iron provided although there was an ironing board. Searched high and low for this and it could not be located. Looking into this 8. No cold water to the basin tap in bathroom 2. It would only turn a little. Looking into this. 9. A TV was provided which we could not initially operate , and no instructions . However, there was a Sky box which we learned at a later date the owner had cancelled the subscription, but in our phone conversations with him, this was not mentioned , adding to our frustration as we tried to work out the TV function My cousin James came over that night and showed you how to turn the tv on and to work the remote . . 10. Bulbs missing to lamps throughout the cottage as well as overhead lights. James returned the next night to replace the bulbs . You told me in your text you wanted to be in if any workmen came in the house, you would not leave the key in the key box outside. James waited an hour for you to come home . When he could not fix the lights he called me and I arranged for the service engineer to come and look at the lights and the hot water system . You would not answer my texts to arrange a time . I texted you 4 times on diffident days . 11. Outside bins were full making it difficult to dispose of the weeks rubbish as requested by Sykes The refuge bin waggon comes every 2 weeks .This is rural Ireland . Yes sometimes the bins become full. Guests just leave the black bin liners on top of the bin or at the side . 12. The owner called his cousin to help with the TV and he was as helpful as he could be under the circumstances. My cousin drove for an hour to show you how to work a remote control for a tv . We responded the evening you rang . You would not ring me back because you said it would cost you money ! he returned to change the bulbs in the bathroom the next night . One of the lights was working of the 3 . You were not left in darkness. You also complained the bed sheets were to hard and that the teapot had a crack in the lid . There wasn’t a toilet roll holder in an 18th century cottage was another complaint. Finally you complained that there were no scones or wine to welcome you into he house , although in our advertisement on Hogans we do not offer this service. We treated you with respect at all times and tried to help with the issues you raised . Unfortunately you would not let us do that. Property Owner
