“Lovely stay in Dromahair.”

Marie was a fantastic host and met us at check in. The house was beautiful, clean and with all mod cons. The garden was perfect too, well maintained and enclosed which was great for the dog. Dromahair has a couple of shops with basically all needs covered, although Lidl isn’t too far away just on the outskirts of Sligo town. Two pubs in the village, with another on the outskirts and the locals were welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area, as ...

“Beautiful house and gardens.”

We really enjoyed our stay, as i said the house etc was lovely with anything we could possibly need , but the town itself of Dromahair has everything you could need, with convience shops, restaurants( the Riverbank -highly recommended) and even a chinese restaurant. Lovely pretty town.

“Whilst this is a very nice cottage & garden, we are really upset about the facilities.”

1) The Fridge Freezer was broken - we contacted the owners and they did provide an old replacement fridge only the following day. Unfortunately the broken fridge freezer was just left in the garden and we discarded some of the food we had brought. 2) The Central Heating didn't work. This was the biggest problem. On the first night the heating didn't function at all. We were very cold and went out to buy hot water bottles. The bedrooms & beds were exceptionally cold and we had concern about my elderly mother. We advised the owners who managed to get an Engineer out straight away and got the heating working again for that day. However for the rest of our stay, the heating didn't come on at all. We were unable to control the thermostat as this was code locked and set at 9 degrees for most of our stay. We requested the code from the owners but this was ignored. As occupants we should be able to set the temperature for our own comfort. The heating & fridge freezer should have been tested and confirmed in good order before our stay. We feel that the property was not as advertised and seek some reimbursement for our stay. This is a pleasant cottage and we do not wish to spoil the owners reputation, but there are some significant learnings here. We await your response before openly publishing our feedback

Thank you for your feedback. We welcome that you found the house and garden pleasant. We understand your frustration with some of the facilities. We do endeavour to ensure that everything is in working order and we understood that to be the case upon your arrival. You made us aware of an issue with the fridge freezer (the issue was with the freezer specifically) at 20:53 on the Friday evening. We arranged for a temporary replacement on the following morning as we were not able to arrange delivery of a new model, given that it was a bank holiday weekend. The fridge freezer was replaced on the following Tuesday and the old model was taken away for recycling. We regret that you did not inform us of the loss of food on your part. Otherwise,we would have compensated you for your loss. As to the heating issue, the boiler did malfunction on the Friday evening and we had an engineer address the issue on the Saturday. We understood that the issue had been resolved, and we asked that you contact us should the issue arise again or whether we could help with anything else. Since we did not hear from you, we understood that everything was in working order. We regret that this seems not to have been the case. Unfortunately, you did not make us aware of this and we could not address the issue. We appreciate your feedback and we regret that your stay was not as we would have wished. “We had a fabulous time at Castle Cove.”

The property is immaculate and has everything you need. We much appreciated the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. We didn’t make use of the coffee machine but it was a nice offering (pods were left to be used). Salt, pepper and other useful products were available including dishwasher tablets. The rooms were all a good size and the wardrobes had hangers. We spent most of our time in the kitchen watching the numerous birds at the feeders. We loved the jeopardy of the two cats who peeped over the fence. The bathrooms, like the rest of the property were new and clean. The showers were effective. The gardens were beautifully maintained. Our dog was wary of the automatic lawn mower but made friends with it as the week passed. Dromahair was a lovely little village. Very well placed to visit Sligo and around. The village shops were well stocked . We did use the takeaway one night but it was not best fish and chips. We only went in one of the pubs - the Blue Devon. It was friendly and locals chatted to us. The Guiness was good. Shops and pubs were 5 mins walk from the house. Our dog was with us and at the property there was a bed for her and bowls for food and water. The garden was secure and even out the front in the small cul de sac, it was safe for her to wander. Thank you to Marie who met us with the keys for her helpfulness. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all.

“Castle Cove was a beautiful property, the minute we walked in it felt like home.”

The cottage is well appointed with every facility you would need to make your stay a happy one. The cottage benefits from having two toilets, which is a must when there are more than two of you, one being ensuite off the main bedroom. Another really lovely feature of the cottage is the wood burning stove in the front room, perfect to sit around after a long day out sightseeing. The kitchen is large and has every kind of implement needed for cooking large meals or just snacks, there is a large dining table which comfortably seats six people and is a light and airy room, just right for lounging around after a good meal. The bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. There is a well appointed utility room with a washing machine and a dryer that leads out to the garden which is very spacious and has a nice seating area, ideal for a drink on a warm evening. All in all this is a superb cottage and one that I would happily stay in again.

“The cottage was well furnished and decorated to a high standard.”

All the utilities and appliances functioned perfectly. We appreciated the comfortable seating in the sitting room. We thoroughly enjoyed the dining area overlooking the garden and bird feeders. The back garden was well maintained and provided a wonderful vista. Marie greeted us upon arrival and even provided us with a lovely apple tart and a floral arrangement for the dining table. She was readily available by telephone for any questions. The village is picturesque with two shops for any necessities. Everyone was very friendly. We would return to this home if we were on holiday in this area.

Ideal secure garden for our dog. It's in a great location for traveling and nice and quiet. The garden is coming on and will be beautiful in the summer, watching the birds while having breakfast became our morning ritual. We would highly recommend a stay here and hope to return ourselves.

“2 Castle Cove is a beautiful, large cottage with everything you could ever need.”

It is exceptionally well equipped, with everything we needed for a 2 week long stay - the kitchen is perfect for cooking proper meals. The internet connect was excellent for working while on holiday too. Although we visited in autumn, the garden is beautiful and would be perfect for summer. I don’t have a bad word to say about the property, Marie was lovely and we will be booking again

“We stayed in a beautiful house in the lovely location of Dromahair.”

The house was immaculately clean and well cared for. The garden was beautiful, private and peaceful. Everything you could possibly need was supplied even logs for the stove. The village is lovely and we especially enjoyed visiting the tea rooms for lunch and cake. There is so much to see and do in the area including the Cuilceagh mountain boardwalk, Water sports in Strandhill and the Glencar waterfall. We had a great week.

The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you would need. It was all very comfortable throughout the house. We were very lucky with the weather so we spent time in the garden as there was a lovely table and parasol we also went touring the area. Unfortunately time ran out on us but we would definately go back again

“A nice village with good restaurants, pubs and shops all within easy walking distance of the house.”

Well located for visiting many attractions in the area. The house itself is comfortable and well equipped with washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher and plenty of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. There is a good private garden with barbeque, seating and umbrella and also a decent washing line. The three bedrooms are all clean and spacious and one has an en suite shower room. The main bathroom has a shower attachment over the bath but no curtain. A hairdryer would have been useful. There is plenty of off road parking. Overall, this is a well appointed house and we would certainly recommend it as a base for a holiday in the area.
