The property

Nestled between scenic lakes and mountains, Loughanure Lake View is a wonderful, detached cottage situated in the village of Loughanure, County Donegal.

The surrounding area is rich in Gaelic heritage and culture, whilst the cottage offers contemporary living spaces for a family gathering in the Irish countryside.

Park in the off-road parking with space for four cars and get settled in straight away; fully kitted-out for your self-catering needs, the kitchen/diner is a lovely, smart space to rustle up hot meals and get the family together around the dining table.

Retire to the spacious sitting room after a long day exploring your surroundings, where a woodburning stove warms the room for an evening of games or films.

Upstairs you will find four good-sized bedrooms sleeping up to eight guests, with two doubles boasting en-suite shower rooms, as well as a king-size, a twin and a family bathroom for relaxing bubble baths.

The bedrooms all have sloped ceilings, storage space to unpack your belongings and are quaintly decorated.

On warm evenings, dine alfresco on the private patio with outdoor seating and a barbecue, whilst during the day children have access to an enclosed playground on the property.

You can stock up the fridge/freezer and cupboards with a visit to Loughanure's local shop, or take a break from cooking and head to the pub for a delicious hot meal.

Canoe or kayak on Loughanure Lake to take in your stunning surroundings in an idyllic setting, whilst avid walkers and wildlife lovers should head to Glenveagh National Park; guided trails will take you through a spectacular deer forest, lakes and the fascinating Glenveagh Castle.

For a busier town, head to Donegal with plenty of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and pubs, or enjoy a spot of fishing on Dungloe lake pier.

Falcarragh is a short journey north for a wander around Cluain na dTor Nursery & Gardens, pack a picnic for a day on Falcarragh beach, and visit the historical ruins of Ray Church.

Known for its gothic-style St. Eunan's Cathedral, Letterkenny is a bustling town a little further north, home to the renowned Regional Cultural Centre for exhibitions, music and film, as well as Letterkenny Golf Club and a variety of restaurants.

With so much on offer all year round, Loughanure Lake View is a fantastic, rural escape to take in the impressive sights and culture of Ireland.
