“Beautiful cottage.”

Beautiful area. Inchydoney beach and Rosscarbery must be visited. We were only there for 3 nights and were totally unfortunate with the weather. Torrential rain. But at least we had a very comfortable cottage to stay in.

“Brilliant little place, off the beaten track.”

For a relaxing holiday, i've not had much better. Facilities are excellent, and catered nicely for the dog. Nora is an excellent host, lovely and explained everything on arrival. If you do come here, then my advice woul dbe to drive to Clonakilty, and then in from there, as the way Google took us was over 40mins of mainly single track roads. There is a lovely pub in Reenascreena (O'Driscolls) and a super market at Clonekilty (Dunnes) and Skibbereen (SupaValue), and a Londis in Rosscarbery. Eating out is a short drive, but my advice would be the Glandore Inn in Glandore. All in all, if you want to escape the rush, and have a relaxing week, then go here. I'll definitely be going again...

“A very cosy cottage sited in its own sheltered grounds just a short distance away from the farmhouse of owners Andrew and Nora (not forgetting their friendly labrador, Molly).”

Thanks again for the gift of eggs, Nora. The rural setting is very peaceful. There is a quiet pub (O’Driscoll’s) at Reenascreena, less than half an hour’s walk away - 5 mins by car. If you’re interested in Irish history then there’s plenty to see - Michael Collins’ birthplace near Sam’s Cross (call in at the man’s former local inn, The Four Alls, afterwards for a pint named after him - “The Big Fella”). The town of Clonakilty is a 15 minute drive away and is where the Michael Collins House Museum is to be found. We had nice meals at O’Donovan’s Hotel on the main street in Clon. Skibbereen Heritage Centre (20 mins or so in the opposite direction) tells the history of The Irish Famine of the 1840s as well as that of nearby Lough Hyne, Ireland’s first marine nature reserve. There are plenty of opportunities to walk in the area if history is not your “thing”. There’s a very relaxed feel to this part of West Cork. People are chatty and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at An Grianan. Alun & Ruth

Good spot to explore west Cork! Clonakilty village is few minutes drive away and the ‘model village’ in Clonakilty was a good experience for the kids. We had late booking and our friendly hosts, Andrew & Nora accommodated our very late check-in (Thank you!). Andrew gave us directions over the phone which was great and avoided us going through undesired country roads. The house was clean and warm with two double en-suite bedrooms and a single bedroom downstairs. Well equipped kitchen, good WiFi speed (downstairs), flat screen TV, board games and amazing reading selections for children and adults. Mobile coverage isn’t great but I guess you don’t need it on your getaway break! It’s next to a working farm and we were welcomed with fresh eggs in the kitchen. We had a nice break from the hustle & bustle of city, thanks again Andrew and Nora!

“Nora and Andrew are a lovely couple and we really appreciated all their help and support throughout our stay.”

They were very friendly and answered all our questions. On the first night, quite late, Andrew drove out to meet us and direct us to the property because we are not very good with directions. Nora popped over to advise us on the property and also help us with the dishwasher, which we were unsure about. We identified a problem with the upstairs shower and they arranged for someone to come and fix it. Since the property also has a separate bathroom with a bath and shower attachment, we were still able to have showers before the upstairs one was fixed. As an added bonus, Nora provided us with some fresh eggs from their farm, which were very welcome. The property is excellent and in a wonderful, rural location. It is also dog friendly, which meant it could accommodate our Labrador Retriever. It is an excellent base from which to venture out and experience all the many wonders of County Cork and beyond.

Nora brought us fresh eggs a few times which was so kind. The house was really nice apart from the furniture being a little uncomfortable in the living room and not many channels working on the TV. The area was stunning and we were able to go see the new born calves next door in the shed. All in all I would recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great walks and beeches and local towns not far away. Oh and a lovely little pub just up the road .

We found that this plan worked as we had everything we needed - a beautiful cottage in a beautiful area, stunning countryside and views, close to towns in every direction with pubs for food, the ability to cook in the cottage if we wanted to, good tv channels and friendly owners - not to mention our visitor, Molly, the dog! Visit the Michael Collins House in Clonakilty, the Famine Centre in Skibbereen, the strand a Inchydoney, and the pub looking over the sea in Glandore, and then plan to come back next year to do it all again.

“The house was very isolated and could have been cleaner as when we arrived we had to clean up a lot of cobwebs and also in the shower room we had to clean the shower water outlet which was blocked solid with hairs and water was building up in shower.”

As for the location and mileage from Clonakilty and shops Etc. this was completely inaccurate. In all this was a nice two story house situated in a rural farming area with no amenities available within 8 miles either side of the dwelling. Thanks
