    “We had a lovely stay at Hazelwood.”

    A home from home. Warm welcome from the hosts who lived next door appreciated when we arrived late in the evening. Situated in easy distance from lots of villages along the coast we enjoyed discovering all Ireland had to offer.

Tucked away in Connonagh near Leap, County Cork, is this large four-bedroom detached house, Hazelwood.

Enjoying a delightful setting and a spacious interior with special features including a large cathedral style window which offers beautiful views out towards the woodlands and lawns, Hazelwood is a fantastic choice for a group or family of eight.

Your new home from home benefits from ample off-road parking for 10 cars, as well as a generous patio with clothesline, storage shed, and furniture, ideal for evenings when you fancy dining alfresco.

The ground floor plays host to a large and fully-equipped kitchen/diner with adjoining utility, an inviting sitting room where you can relax on the plush seating in front of the crackling open fire as you watch your favourite show on the TV, a conservatory where you can enjoy your morning coffee as you plan the days adventures, and a lovely study space for those wanting to catch up on work whilst away.

Completing the ground floor is a wonderful double bedroom with Jack-and-Jill shower room.

Head upstairs, where you can wash away the day in the monochromatic bathroom with an indulgent soak in the bath or a quick shower, before discovering three further bedrooms, a king-size and two doubles, one of which benefits from its own en-suite shower room.

Just paces away from Hazelwood, you will find the popular Beehive Bar, where you can enjoy your favourite tipple in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the Dromelihy Forest Recreational Area for leisurely strolls through the woodlands.

Further local amenities can be found in Leap, where you can hook your catch of the day along Drom Pier, catch a live performance of Connolly’s of Leap, dine at the Leap Inn Bar & Restaurant, pick up essentials from the convenience store, or visit the beautiful Leap Historic Waterfall.

Continue onto Castletownshend, where you can explore the fascinating sites of Knockdrum Stone Fort and Gurranes Stone Row, embark on the Sculpture Walk or hop aboard a boat to go whale watching.

Spend the day birdwatching in Rosscarberry where you'll find a wonderful variety of species, take advantage of the fantastic view at Galley Head Lighthouse or head to the Gothic ruins of Castlefreke.

Alternatively, journey to Glandore where you can embark on a scenic walk along the coastline and soak in the imposing views that stretch for miles; Glandore Gardens can also be found here, in addition to several places to refuel including Glandore Inn and Hayes' Bar and Kitchen.

The pretty village of Leap is located in West Cork between the towns of Skibbereen and Clonakilty. It is home to a tennis court and playground, as well as an excellent selection of shops, pubs, and dining facilities. The surrounding area is recognised as having some of Ireland's most beautiful scenery with sandy beaches, secluded coves, fast-flowing rivers, lakes, hills and forests, all easily accessible for walkers, cyclists and drivers. Further afield but still within driving distance is the lively market town of Kinsale - renowned as the “gourmet capital of Ireland” and famous for its food, friendliness and traditional flavour. There are many festivals throughout West Cork during the year which should not be missed, and with dolphin and whale watching opportunities along the coast, this is an ideal location for discovering this unspoilt part of Ireland.
