“I have around 6+ Sykes holidays each year and never rate them no matter how good or disappointed I might be, but most are 4 or 5 stars.”

However, 2 Ocean View is the worst booking I’ve experienced, and is not worthy of 1 star. After our first look around we left the property and cancelled our holiday , it was that bad. However, 2 Ocean View is the worst booking I’ve experienced, and is not worthy of 1 star. After our first look around we left the property and cancelled our holiday , it was that bad. We arrived a couple of hours early and let ourselves in to an extremely cold and fusty smelling house. It was obvious it had been empty for a while. The outside furniture had been dumped in the corner of the living room and the was smeared mastic around the patio doors trying to hide gaps that where still visible. Upon walking into the bedroom towels and flannels were laid out in the usual manner, but a flannel had brown smears all over it. Pulling the bedcovers back revealed hairs on the sheets which were also not made up – probably not even washed. In the en-suite there were half used toiletries either left by the previous occupier or by the owners themselves. I suspect the latter as there are personal photos of a family hung from the wall. There was a note on a rather neglected looking boiler stating not to touch it as heating was controlled remotely, so if you’re looking to turn up the heat when your cold you cant! We were advised because we were early that the cleaner MIGHT turn up, however to get that place to an acceptable standard in a couple of hours would not be possible, my partner runs a cleaning company so she would know better than most.
